Gawrsh, ptery--it's nothing. No, really...it's nothing. Just surf on over to the Unicode section of FileFormat.info and have a field day. (I have better results using the decimal HTML entity. All will be revealed when you visit the site.)

ə¿ə -- bravo, skipvia! Your prowess with non-standard characters is truly impressive.

*applauds*

And I thank you on behalf of my neck, which will no longer have to suffer such indignities in the name of gremlin-summoning.

You know, it kind of looks like a character from Doonesbury.

Edit: Mark Slackmeyer.

Why not write it ə¿ə and avoid having to turn your computer (or yourself) upside down?

Why, you're right--it does look like a bulbous-nosed gremlin out of the cathode ray depths!

*crack* Ouch.

Ha! It reminds me a face entirely made of kana (the Japanese syllabic script) that Rumiko Takahashi sometimes draws in her manga.

I'm trying out the question mark in the title, and I find that if I rotate my screen 180 degrees, the list's new title looks like a cartoony face drawn in three-quarters angle.

(I have a CRT monitor, so I'm not actually rotating my screen 180 degrees. I'm standing up from my chair and craning my head wayyyyy over to the left. As the blood rushes to my head... pop! It appears! Like some bulbous-nosed gremlin out of the cathode ray depths!)

Thanks, ptero!

Maybe a question mark for one and an asterisk for the other? That's how I've seen a few word-search sites make the distinction.

Sure, eye is fine. Add away, my friend!

As for the asterisk, the truth is I couldn't figure out a simple way to distinguish between "any one character" (which is what the second asterisk means) and "any character or characters, or no character" (which is what the first asterisk means).

Interesting list idea! Would eye count? (I notice you have an asterisk before the first "e" in your list name.)
